MOLER RACEWAY PARK 2008 CHEVETTE RULES
Chevettes-2008 - ** Indicates changes **
1. Stock Chevette body only, two or four door. Unibodies can be tied together with square
tubing, no full tube chassis permitted. **Front and rear frame rails must be in stock location **
2. All glass must be removed, dash may be removed, but not mandatory.
3. Racing steering wheel allowed.
4. All chrome grills, lights and screws must be removed.
5. A full four-post roll cage welded securely to frame is Mandatory. At least three door bars on
driver’s side. Two door bars on passenger side. All welds must pass inspection.
6. All doors must be welded or bolted with at least two 5/8 inch bolts per each door.
**Aluminum or steel sheet metal allowed but must be riveted or bolted to the body. **
7. Hulling of body okay. ** Stock firewall or steel sheet metal required. Stock floorboard or can
use a minimum of 1/8 an inch steel sheet metal on drivers side. Full or half floorboard optional. **
8. Spoiler allowed, six inches maximum.
9. ** Factory stock bumpers okay or may use aftermarket tube type bumpers with a tube of
1 1/4 inch minimum and 1 1/2 inch maximum. Wall thickness must be between 0.95 and .120.
All bumper ends must be must be covered with no sharp edges. Plastic nose and rear tail piece
okay.**
10. All bars must be inside body panels and bumpers. No rub rails.
11. Boxing or tunneling of interior okay. Fuel cell must be boxed off from driver’s compartment.
12. Must have hood, mandatory.
13. Hood and trunk must open, secured with latch pins, no factory locks. **Aluminum or steel
sheet metal optional.**
Engine:
1. Must be stock-appearing Chevette gas engine only in stock
position. No Chevette diesel engines.
2. Header okay, after-market header okay. MUFFLERS MANDATORY
3. **Carburetor must be factory stock appearing on the outside. Chevette two barrel Holly intake
or Chevette one barrel Holley intake. You may also use an aftermarket adaptor plate to make a
a two barrel carburetor fit a one barrel Holley intake or use an aftermarket sheet metal type.**
4. Fuel: Gasoline or racing fuel only, no alcohol.
5. Must be stock ignition, no after-market ignition allowed.
6. ** Aluminum radiator optional.**
Transmission:
1. Stock Chevette automatic or standard transmission only.
2. Clutch, fly-wheel and torque converter stock only.
Suspension:
1. Stock suspension, must be in stock position. Chevette
rear-end only.
2. No racing springs or shocks. ** Screw jacks allowed in front and rear.**
3. Shocks must be mounted in stock position only.
4. One shock per wheel only in stock position.
5. Stock control arms only, in stock position.
6. No traction or helper device permitted.
7. No added weight permitted.
Wheels:
1. Factory stock 13 inch rims or after-market rims. Eight-inch maximum width.
**Bead locks permitted.**
Tires:
1. 60 or 70 series 13-inch DOT street tires or racing
re-tread on DOT street tire casing only.
2. **Racing tires okay, Hoosier or American Racer 205/215/235/-60-13 DOT casting only.
Maximum width eight inches. **
Brakes:
1. All cars will have brakes in operating condition.
Safety:
1. An approved full-faced racing helmet REQUIRED of all drivers.
2. Fire-resistant driving uniforms REQUIRED of all drivers.
3. Fire-resistant gloves REQUIRED of all drivers.
4. Fire-resistant underwear and socks strongly recommended.
5. Racing seats and five-point racing harness REQUIRED and MUST securely fasten to the car
frame. Belts and harness recommended to be no more than five years old. Belts cannot be
frayed or worn.
6. Head and neck restraints are highly recommended.
7. All cars must have a window net on the driver’s side.
8. Must have a minimum of three quarter-inch bars in front of driver with a complete front
window screen or half screen optional.
9. ALL CARS MUST HAVE AN APPROVED FIRE EXTINGUISHER IN WORKING CONDITION
SECURELY MOUNTED WITHIN REACH OF DRIVER.
10. Racing Fuel Cell Mandatory. Must be in a completely Enclosed steel container, no aluminum
allowed. You may cut out trunk floor pan for fuel cell to fit, not to include rear frame rails.
11. No fuel lines inside driver or passenger compartment.
12. Battery must be securely mounted in trunk area or passenger side floorboard, mounted in a
plastic battery box.
13. Absolutely MUST HAVE a tow hook ** front and rear**.
14. Must have driveshaft loop. Driveshaft must be painted white.
15. All cars must have a car number on both doors and the roof that are at least 18 inches for
scoring purposes.
16. MRP has the right to refuse racing privileges to anyone. Please follow all safety rules for your
protection in competition.
