Another Strong Field of Cars leads to Lots of Racing Action at MRP!

9-2-16 - Williamsburg, OH - The Matt's Graphic Modified division was the featured class of the night with $1,000 on the line for the feature winner and there were 28 strong cars on-hand looking to take home the top prize. In the heat races it was Jimmy Lennex Jr of Maysville, KY winning heat #1 while Winchester, Ohio’s Weasel Rhoades would claim the win in heat #2 with Matt Hamilton of Aurora, Indiana winning heat race #3. The B-main would be won by Bethel, Ohio's Larry Pickelheimer Jr. In the feature event it was Lennex to the lead early while Hamilton would apply pressure early but it wasn't until lap #9 that the House Racing Engines, Yesco, Sign-a-rama, Jim & Jacks on the River sponsored machine would take over the top spot and have to battle with Lennex throughout the remainder of the race to get his fourth feature win in the new Lightning Chassis that he debuted about a month ago. The fast-paced action throughout the race would see Adam Stricker come home in second spot with Randy Lines passing Lennex on the final lap to take 3rd position putting Lennex to 4th and Tony Anderson completing the Top 5. Patrick Alcorn would win the Diamond Cut Lawn Care Dash event for highest points cars who haven't won a race this season.

The Late Model division had another wild and interesting night of racing. With 20 cars on hand it was Waverly, Ohio's Billy Gullion and Flemingsburg,KY's Roger Ruark taking heat race wins and setting the starting lineup for the 25 lap feature. Gullion would lead the early laps but it was Chad Stapleton charging to the lead by lap 4. The racing behind those two was fantastic as 7th and 9th starting Bill Sheets and John Whitney would charge to the front. Lap 8 would see Whitney spin in turn 2 but the caution had waved for a car stopped in turn #4 that would allow him to hold onto his 5th position. On the restart Whitney would go to the bottom of the racetrack and charge after the leader. Whitney would get to second spot by lap 10 and there was battling between him and Stapleton until he finally took over the lead on lap 21. Whitney would go on to claim another win in his Stephan's Heating& Cooling machine despite being the first time he'd actually raced that particular car that was just purchased as a backup and still had the #12D on the car instead of the traditional Oh1o numbering. Stapleton would hold onto second position over Kody Evans, Joe Brewer, and Ruark.

TheDRC Crazy Compacts would see 24 cars on-hand trying to take the win. Heat races were won by Jerry Gibson III, Josh Hammond, and Kevin Stamper while Darren Keller won the B-main event. In the feature it was Jerry Gibson III out front early but he would have lots of pressure from Hammond and Brandon Gibson Jr. Those 3 cars would battle and trade paint throughout. But at the end of 15 laps it was Jerry Gibson III taking another feature win in his #47 machine. Hammond would come home in second spot with David Willoughby edging “King Kyle II” Willoughby for third and Chris Shelton Sr taking 5th position.

The Tarvin Auto Service Freedom 4's would see Chris Vance of Sardinia, Ohio have another dominating performance as he would win both the heat race and feature event in his Northwest Transmission, Wilson Body Shop, Diamond Cut Lawn Care sponsored machine. Josh Davis would come home in second position with Johnny Jump, Mike Clark, and Curt Daniels completing the running order.

The final division of the night would see the Diamond Cut Lawn Care Sport Mods in action with 15 cars looking to claim the victory. In the preliminary races it was Amelia OH’s Dallas Pickelheimer and Maysville, Ky's Chris Shelton Jr taking heat race wins. In the feature it was Chris Shelton Jr jumping to the early lead but Williamsburg, Ohio's Tony Seibert would apply pressure the entire 15 laps including for a brief moment he would take the lead before a caution would wave putting Shelton back out front with 3 laps remaining. At the end it was Shelton taking another win in his Brannon Farms, Ripato Trucking, Davis Machine sponsored car. Seibert would come home in second spot with Pickelheimer, Richard Mitchel and Andy Trout completing the top five spots.
