Midwest Modified Mania a Huge Success at Moler Raceway Park

10-10-15 Williamsburg, OH - A rare Saturday night show would see 35 Modifieds and 24 Late Models s in action for $1500 to win each. The Matt's Graphics Modifieds would be up first and with 35 cars signed in they would have to race their way through 4 qualifying heat races to make the feature event. In heat #1 it was Adam Stricker taking the win over Don Adams. In heat race #2 it was Larry Pickelheimer Jr taking the win over Aaron Branham while Kyle Schornick was victorious in heat #3 with Pete Brunton coming home in second spot. The fourth and final heat race would see Brandon Ramsey take the win over Jimmy Lennex Jr. In the first of two B-main events it was Travis Pruitt taking the win over Davey Warnock while Richard Gibson would win B-main #2 over Matt Hamilton. In the Diamond Cut Lawn Care Dash event it was Stricker taking the win over Schornick, Pickelheimer, and Ramsey. In the feature event it was Stricker to the lead at the green flag with Schornick in close pursuit with Pickelheimer, Adams, and Ramsey battling in the top five spots. By lap 10 it was evident that the car on the move was 20th starter Matt Hamilton as he had charged up to 7th position. As the 25 lap feature would wind down Hamilton would continue his charge to the front and with 4 laps to go he would take over second spot from Schornick and as Stricker entered turn #3 for the final lap a lap car would slow his progress and allow Hamilton a shot at a slide job but to no avail as the 2015 Track Champion from Batavia, Ohio would put his Sticker Auto Parts, M&L Mechanics, Just Right Heating sponsored Larry Shaw racecar into victory lane for the first time in 2015. Hamilton would come home in second spot with Schornick, Dave McWilliams, and Don Adams completing the top five positions.

In the Late Model Division there were 24 cars on hand and there were 3 heat races to set the starting lineup for the 30 lap feature event. In heat race #1 it was 2015 Track Champion John Whitney taking the win in his OH1O machine with Daniel Shelton coming home in second spot. In the second heat it was Nick Latham taking the win over Kevin Wagner while Jesse Lay would claim the win in heat race #3 over Chad Oberson. The B-main event was won by Jeff Arnold Jr. In the feature event it was Whitney jumping to the early lead in his Stephens Heating & Cooling, Tom & Jerri Adams sponsored machine but the pace would be quickly slowed at Chad Oberson would spin in turn #4 on lap 3 bringing out the first caution. On the restart it was Tom Collini slowing the pace as he would stop in turn #4 on lap 6. On the restart it was again Whitney out front with Latham sticking close behind in second spot. The field would be slowed again on lap #13 as Daniel Shelton got into the wall in turn #2. On the restart it was again Whitney out front with Latham in close pursuit. As the two leaders battled through traffic it looked as though the longer they ran the stronger Latham's Club 29 machine was getting but with 2 laps remaining he would make contact with a lapped car and spin around in turn #3 bringing out the final caution. On the restart it was all Whitney as he would pull away to claim yet another win in his championship season. Jesse Lay would come home in second spot with Robby Hensley, Jeff Arnold Jr (from 16th starting spot), and Roger Ruark completing the top five positions.

The Tarvin Auto Service Freedom 4's would be up next and it was once again another 2015 Track Champion taking the win in the feature event. Sean Jones would drive his Barber Bros, Chilo Dairy Bar, Hudepohl backed car to his 9th feature win of the season. Dustyn Fisher would pass Kyle Tarvin with just a couple of laps remaining to take second position while Curt Daniels and Steven Turton would complete the top five running order. Jones also won the heat race event.

The DRC.net Crazy Compacts would see a newcomer in victory lane as 12 year old Brandon Gibson Jr would take his first checker flag at Moler. It was far from easy as the youngster jumped from his 3rd starting spot to the lead on lap #1 with a 3 wide move going into the first turn. Carson Freeman would put pressure on the youngster but to no avail as Gibson would charge on to lead all 15 laps on the way to the feature win. Freeman would come home in second position with Justin Dalton, Brandon Stephens, and Michael Skeens completing the top five. Freeman and Blake Gibson won the 2 heat race events.

The final event of the night would see another 2015 Track Champion in Victory Lane as Andy Trout would take his Seip's Auto Parts, Elizanda Lumber, Diamond Cut Lawn Care machine to victory lane once again. He made it look easy as the Georgetown, Ohio driver would jump to the lead from his outside pole starting spot and never be seriously challenged in leading all 15 laps. Spencer Watson would come home in second position with BJ Branham, Aaron Branham, and Tony Seibert completing the top five positions. Burt Crawford was the winner of the heat race event.  The final race of the year will be the Turkey Gobbler 40 on Saturday November 14th with rain/snow dates of November 21st and 28th.    Late Models 1500 to Win, Modifieds $800 to Win plus all classes.  Gates will open at 4:00 Hot Laps 6:15 Racing at 6:45.  www.molerracewaypark.com
